Cardioprotection by black pepper, genome edited crops safety, mobile-based inflammation assay, and other biotech research updates

Abstract

Current Research in Biotechnology (CRBIOTECH), the new frontline biotech research golden open access journal by Elsevier, features in its first issue ten highly interesting articles excellently illustrating the contemporary diversity of the biotech field. Well aligning with the broad scope of the journal, the first published articles cover various topics from the areas of biomaterials development, genome editing, biosensors, nutrition and health optimization, molecular mechanisms deconvolution, monoclonal antibody technology research, biotech applications for environmental waste recycling, bioproduction technologies, bioassays development and validation, and even overall biotech research landscape analysis. The excellent quality of the so far published manuscripts, in combination with the strong attention immediately provoked in both the research communities and the general public, provide clear indications that CRBIOTECH is well on its way to become a sector-leading journal.
